A garden fete to raise funds to enable a Lagos dance group to attend the Dance World Cup in Austria at the end of June raised €1,190.
Organised by A Small Act of Kindness, the event was held in the grounds of Quinta Monte Arranzina, Espiche, on May 13. Several performers entertained guests including the Choir of Vale Verde School, classical musicians from the Academia de Música de Lagos, the ballerinas from the Associação de Dança de Lagos (ADL) and Marta Alves, who presented a solo programme of traditional fado and modern songs.
Carolyn Ellison, part of the organisation, said: “The funds will assist the ADL with its goal to send the group of 13 ballerinas to the Dance World Cup.”
