Show || ‘A Paz no Coração’ (Peace in the Heart) is the title of the end-of-year show of the Escola de Dança de Lagos, with three performances scheduled for June 19, 20 and 21 in the town’s cultural centre, starting at 7.30pm each evening.
It has been a busy year for the school, which has seen some changes as the older dancers prepare to move on to college, leaving us with what promises to be memorable images of “pas de deux” and elaborate solos. The younger ones are now moving up the ranks to take centre stage with solos in ballet, contemporary and national dances, as well as their group choreographies.
The school has competed in two national competitions this year, Dançarte in Faro and another in Leiria and has met with success, which serves to fuel the self-confidence of these young people.
The internal exams have been completed and all that remains is to share with the public the progress that another year has brought, before they move on to the next adventure later this month and then a well-earned break.
After qualifying for the Dance World Cup in Paris, Villach and last year Brighton, the Escola de Dança de Lagos has two group dances and two solos entered in the Dance World Cup Finals being held at the Centro de Congressos do Arade in Parchal, Lagoa, from June 29 to July 5.
