Che Lagoense badminton club mates Pedro Martins and Telma Santos lived up to their respective top seeding at last week’s Syrian Open. Both players reached the finals of the singles events where victories over Iranian Kaveh Mehrabi and home favourite Sanaa Mahmoud were rewarded with gold. In addition, the precious 2500 international ranking points earned by each player will help greatly in attaining Olympic qualification for London 2012.
