THE OFFICIAL start of the 30th Dakar Rally will be preceded by a three-day administrative phase at Lisbon’s Belém Cultural Centre, during which time visitors are also welcome to inspect the gathered field of participants and their vehicles.
The motorcade is then scheduled to leave the Portuguese capital on the morning of Saturday January 5, beginning its departure from 6.30am onwards. Following a first special stage in and around Lezirias the 500 plus cars, trucks and motorbikes will arrive at Portimão’s riverside during the afternoon of the same day.
The overnight stay in the city is followed by the continuation of the race at 7.30am towards Malaga in Spain and Africa. While still in the Algarve a further special stage will take place just to the east of Portimão. The various routes to be taken will be clearly marked and accessible to spectators eager to follow the action first hand.
