PORTUGUESE HIP-HOP urban rap group Da Weasel has taken home the gong for Best Portuguese Group for the second year running at the MTV Music Awards in Munich.
During the band’s five years existence, it has been nominated for Best Portuguese Act three times, winning twice.
The prize was awarded for the success of the band’s latest album Amor, Escárnio e Maldizer, which includes the catchy tune Toque-Toque which has been used in several successful mobile phone advertising campaigns.
Released on April 2, the album has stayed at the top of the Portuguese CD charts for 30 consecutive weeks, according to sales figures from the Portuguese Phonographic Association (AFP).
The band is also to play expected sell-out concerts at the Pavilhão Atlântico in Lisbon tomorrow (Saturday). Tickets are available from the usual outlets.C.G.
