Cultural week in Alte

The 17th annual Alte Cultural Week will be held between April 25 and May 1.

The event is considered one of the most popular traditional events in the Algarve and will include activities such as folklore groups, gastronomy, sports, musical entertainment and handicrafts.

It opens on April 25 with the inauguration of a painting and photography exhibition at the Pólo Museológico Cândido Guerreiro e Condes de Alte.

April 26 is dedicated to children’s entertainment, in the lounge of Casa do Povo de Alte during the afternoon.

A play by the group Boa Esperança called Aqui não há crise (There is no crisis here) will be held on April 27 from 9.30pm in the ballroom of Casa do Povo de Alte.

April 29 sees a crafts and local products exhibition plus popular music and gastronomy and, from 10pm, a musical and dance show that will combine flamenco with the traditional Portuguese guitar.

A mountain bike ride will take place on April 30 from 10am and on May 1, considered by the organisers as the main day of this cultural week, there will be a folklore festival starting at 11am.
