Culatra Island religious festivities officially recognised as ‘Intangible Cultural Heritage

Culatra Island’s religious event ‘Festa em Honra de Nossa Senhora dos Navegantes da Ilha da Culatra’ has been officially recognised as “Intangible Cultural Heritage” by the national board of cultural heritage.

The event features a procession on the first Sunday of each August, which sees the image of the local patron saint being moved aboard a fishing boat and taken to Olhão and then back to Culatra.
