Cuban doctors

Public health provision in the region is being beefed up with the arrival of 18 doctors from Cuba.

It means a further 30,000 individuals in the Algarve will have access to a GP.

Following a protocol between the Central Health Administration and the Cuban Medical Services, the doctors will be allocated to the Algarve for a period of three years.

The doctors will be working at the state-run health centres in the towns of Lagos, Lagoa, Silves, Albufeira and Loulé, as well as the casualty departments in Albufeira,  Loulé and Vila Real de Santo António.
