As doctors prepare strike action, jornal i reveals that an agreement between Portugal and Cuba has seen €12 million spent on wooing Cuban doctors to this country over the last six years.
In the first year alone, Portugal paid each doctor €5,900 a month. It’s a sum, says the website, far in excess of that usually paid by the State for a baseline salary.
