October is expected to be the busiest month ever experienced at the port in Portimão, with over 20,000 cruise ship passengers predicted to dock in the city during the month.
Portimão is increasingly being used by major cruise companies as a docking destination and during October there are 10 ships expected, covering 19 days.
The prestigious Silver Sea luxury cruise ship is due to arrive on October 22 while the impressive Royal Clipper, the largest sailboat in the world complete with five masts, is to arrive on October 27.
During 2009, around 30,000 passengers passed through Portimão on cruise ships and this year the total is expected to well exceed this.
