CLAIRE AND Rob Shanahan, Lady Dot (as she is known to friends and family) and husband Tony Mcclure, recently held a fundraising night in the Crow’s Nest Irish pub in aid of the Bom Samaritano children’s home in Alvor. The night was a huge success with spectators enjoying live music by Noel the musician and raising a total of 1,000 euros. The Bom Samaritano children’s home is currently home to 36 children between the ages of four and 17, who have either been abused, neglected or abandoned. Dr. Marisa Bossa, one of the home’s caretakers, said that the 1,000 euros would either go towards creating a playroom or renovating the playground. Dr. Bossa explained that the old playground had to be torn down because it was deemed too dangerous for the children to play in. Now, the home is trying to raise enough money for it to be re-built.
