Amendoeira Golf Resort in Alcantarilha will be hosting the Oceânico Bowls Masters (Portugal) crown green bowls competition between October 12 and 16, with the finals televised on SKY Sports.
Top crown green bowls players will be coming to the Algarve along with other hopefuls in trying to win some of the 10,000 pound sterling prize fund.
During the summer, 13 winners of the UK’s biggest competitions, along with two winners from Algarve competitions that have been held at the Amendoeira Bowls Club this year, have been guaranteed a place in the last 32.
Top names such as Glynn Cookson and Graeme Wilson have already qualified, as well as young hopefuls such as 23-year old Calum Wraight, the winner of the Wharton Cons round held at Waterloo.
The 16th guaranteed place can be won during the Bowls Masters week by means of winning a round robin competition.
There are further chances during the event to get into the last 32 by entering a knockout competition which will whittle players down to the last 16, who will then play against the 16 that have already qualified.
Each player who makes the last 32 will win at least 150 pounds sterling in prize money and the overall winner will win 3,000 pounds.
Places are available for anyone who wants to enter this tournament. The cost of entry into the round robin and the knockout competition is 82 euros.
Discounts are available for members of Amendoeira Bowls Club, Bowls Algarve and the Portugal Bowls Federation.
