ONE OF the most important British pop-rock bands of the last two decades, The Charlatans, is coming to Portugal for the first time to perform music from the new album.

The yet to be named album, which is due to be released at the beginning of 2008, is going to be available in a very special way. For the first time in the history of music, a band is going to offer the album for free through a radio station, the acclaimed XFM.

With more than 15 years in existence, The Charlatans appeared in 1990 with the single Indian Rope, which they published at their own cost. The success of the single attracted the interest of many labels and after receiving some offers, they decided to sign for the Beggars Banquet.

Their debut album Some Friendly was immediately successful, having also achieved the number one spot in British top sales.

The Charlatans has recorded nine original albums and reached the top of the charts three more times in the UK.

Their new single You Cross My Path is already available to hear and to download at www.myspace.com/thecharlatans

You can see this amazing band at Aula Magna, in Lisbon, on February 4.
