Cross-border deal

Cross-border cooperation between Portugal and Spain has been boosted with the creation of an organisation to strengthen business and tourist links in the Algarve, Alentejo and Andalucia regions.

Representatives of the three regions met recently at the Portuguese Consulate in Seville to finalise the agreement for the creation of the Euro Associação Alentejo-Algarve e Andaluzia.

Representing the Algarve, João Rosado, president of the regional association for commerce and services, ACRAL, said: “We are aware of the current economic difficulties businesses are facing. Cooperation to improve the competitiveness of small and medium sized companies is vital.”
