The 27-year-old world No110 will be hoping to follow up that success at this week’s ATP Challenger in Kosice, Slovakia before switching to the unfamiliar grass of Wimbledon.
Meanwhile, Rafael Nadal beat perennial adversary Roger Federer 7-5, 7-6, 5-7, 6-1 to claim a record-equalling sixth French Open title, while Na Li became the first Asian female player to claim a Grand Slam crown by beating defending champion Francesca Schiavone 6-4, 7-6 in the women’s final.
