Portugal’s legendary Cristiano Ronaldo has yet another prize to put on his mantlepiece: the best goal of 2018. His extraordinary overhead kick triumph against Juventus, the club he has since joined, came during the quarter finals of the Champions League, and clinched 197,000 votes against 35,000 pitched for the second choice, Dimitri Payet. CR7 has since said it was the best try of his career.
The voting, run by UEFA.com, saw third place in this year’s ranking taken by female player Eva Navarro of Spain for her triumph during the U17 World Cup against Germany in May.
