Cristiano Ronaldo opens second hotel in Lisbon

Hot on the heels of the opening of his first hotel in the Madeiran capital of Funchal, Portugal’s footballing hero Cristiano Ronaldo will be inaugurating his second in the heart of Lisbon on August 16. The 82-room Pestana CR7 Lisboa Hotel will be geared to the younger sector of the tourism market “with all the latest gadgetry on offer” and focus on public areas and ambience, rather than the rooms.

Located on Rua da Prata, close to the bay, prices will range from €250 a night for regular rooms, to €1,250 for the one suite available.

A joint initiative between CR7 and Pestana, the actual running of the hotel will be in the hands of the long-established Pestana Group that comprises 90 establishments in 15 countries.

And there are still two more CR7-inspired hotels to come – the next due in New York next year, and Madridi in 2019.

Talking to Forbes about the development, Ronaldo said: “I’m extremely happy because this is the biggest project in my life and it’s completely different to what I do.

“We were considering only one hotel originally, so to start with four locations is a big kick-off! It’s like playing for the first time and suddenly scoring lots of goals.”
