Cristiano Ronaldo makes history as European Championship’s top scorer

Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo had another night for the history books on Tuesday, scoring a brace in Portugal’s 3-0 victory over Hungary to earn him the title of top scorer in the history of the UEFA European Championship.

The 36-year-old now has 11 goals in Euros, two more than Michel Platini.

Ronaldo also holds the record for most Euros played (2004, 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2020) and most Euro matches played (22), and could very well become the all-time international scoring leader as well.

His goals against Hungary were his 105th and 106th for Portugal, leaving him just four goals behind the 109 scored by Iran’s Ali Daei.
