Cristiano Ronaldo is coming to the Algarve in July!

Al-Nassr choose Algarve for training camp

Al-Nassr, the Saudi-Arabian club made famous for the signing of Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo in December 2022, will be carrying out a pre-season training camp in the Algarve between July 3 and 21.

The announcement was made by Faro GNR lieutenant coronel Carlos Almeida during the presentation of the ‘Verão Seguro’ (Safe Summer) programme on Wednesday.

According to national tabloid Correio da Manhã, Cristiano Ronaldo and his team will stay at a luxury resort in the region. “Strong security measures” are expected to be in place, the tabloid adds, given Ronaldo’s international stardom.

Whether the team will take part in any pre-season tournament has yet to be confirmed, although CM says there is a “strong chance” that it will happen.

After leaving Manchester United shortly before the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where he captained Portugal to a surprise quarter-final elimination against Morocco, Cristiano Ronaldo shocked the football world with a move to the Saudi Arabian league.

He signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with Al-Nassr, earning €200 million per year (including sponsorships) – the largest deal in football history.
