Police in the Lagos area have reported a fall in crime in 2008 compared with 2007.
Data was presented to the mayor of Lagos, Júlio Barroso, by representatives of the GNR, PSP and the Marine police of the municipality.
The number of private home burglaries fell dramatically and was accounted for by police as being due to an increase in the arrests of suspected burglars.
Júlio Barroso said that the drop in crime was thanks to the cooperation of all the security forces and he hoped that the positive developments in crime fighting would continue.
