Creditors hear they’ll never get their money as British justice ‘frees Vale e Azevedo’ from €60 million in debts

The extraordinary ‘cat-and-mouse’ saga involving former Benfica president João Vale e Azevedo and a long line of very suspicious business dealings has ended with the convicted fraudster (who fled to UK in a private jet click here ) being ‘freed of €60 million in debts’ by British justice. With creditors here including Benfica itself (missing at least €15 million) and sundry businesspeople, TVI reports that Vale e Azevedo is “now free to return to buying properties and luxury cars in his name” and has almost certainly dodged the 10-year jail term that was said to await him if authorities could get him back to Portugal (click here).
