Almost one third of children spend more than nine hours per day at crèches in Portugal, with the majority of these hours spent watching television, according to a study by consumer rights organisation, DECO.
The survey also revealed that 32 per cent of the parents questioned leave their children at the crèche for more than nine hours per day.
Twenty-seven per cent of parents with children between one and two years old would like to see childcare facilities open on Saturdays too.
