Cristiano Ronaldo’s multi-million euro private jet suffered a major incident while trying to land in Barcelona.
According to international media, the landing gear of the €20 million jet “broke on impact” as the pilot touched down at El Prat airport on Monday night (September 26), forcing authorities to close the runway.
The Portuguese football star was not on board the luxury Gulfstream G200 plane. It was being used by a private company, which had rented it from Ronaldo.
Eyewitnesses said the emergency services raced to the scene after the malfunction.
The pilot suffered “very minor injuries” and no one else was hurt.
When the crash happened, Ronaldo was in Germany preparing for Real Madrid’s Champions League match with Borussia Dortmund in which he scored the opening goal of a 2-2 draw.
