CR7 voted “best Premier League player ever”

Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo has been named the English Premier League’s “best player ever”.

The news came as CR7 celebrated his 30th birthday (February 5) and was trying to overcome a spot of bad press after being handed a two-game suspension for punching and kicking a player on the field (see: https://www.portugalresident.com/cr7-%E2%80%9Cworld%E2%80%99s-best-player%E2%80%9D-shows-his-worst-possible-side).

Ronaldo won this latest accolade in a survey conducted by instant polls specialists Usurv. It is said to be due to his hugely successful six-season spell with Manchester United – in which he won three Premier Leagues titles, an FA Cup, two Football League Cups, an FA Community Shield, a UEFA Champions League and a FIFA Club World Cup.

Voters (506 women and 494 men) were given the option to vote between 10 players. These are the full results:

• Thierry Henry (133 votes – 18%)
• Ryan Giggs (95 votes – 13%)
• Alan Shearer (92 votes – 12%)
• Eric Cantona (89 votes – 12%)

• Dennis Bergkamp (40 votes – 5%)
• Gianfranco Zola (24 votes – 5%)
• Roy Keane (14 votes – 3%)
