It is not just Ronaldo’s football skills that are earning him awards and nominations. The Real Madrid footballer has landed the number one spot on ‘Athletes Gone Good’, a list of the world’s 20 most charitable athletes.
According to non-profit organization DoSomething.org, Ronaldo has raised money for various causes including “donating more than $83,000 to a 10-year-old fan in need of brain surgery and giving more than $165,000 to fund a cancer center in Portugal that treated his mother”.
CR7 is also praised for using “his fame as a global spokesperson for a variety of causes including childhood hunger, obesity and biodiversity”.
Other athletes on the list include wrestler John Cena, tennis player Serena Williams, figure skater Kim Yuna and Brazilian footballer Neymar.
