In yet another strike called over the festive season, CP workers and those of Infraestruturas de Portugal today ensured that 320 of the 419 scheduled trains did not move an inch. This strike, like so many others in public administration, is seeking a ‘better’ pay deal (to accommodate inflation) and an “end of discrimination between workers”. A blistering column in Expresso this weekend believes it is time the country privatised rail lines, and was not constantly held to ransom by State paid workers who provide “miserable service” even when they are working.
