CP (Comboios de Portugal) registers €95.4 million in losses during pandemic’s first year

CP, Portugal’s rail network, registered €95.4 million in losses last year, compared to the €51.6 million in 2019. With government focus now on promoting rail travel in the interests of a greener, more sustainable future, 2021 is still unlikely to see a great deal of improvement. Passengers on Portugal’s trains reduced by 40% during the first year of the pandemic, with transport of cargo falling by 45%.
