Until November 30, over 45,000 nationwide train tickets are on sale at promotional prices.
Portuguese railway company CP – Comboios de Portugal announced last Tuesday, October 31, the launch of its latest campaign, entitled “Promo +”, which offers over 45 thousand tickets at highly promotional prices.
According to the company, this initiative reflects CP’s commitment to providing an efficient, comfortable and now even more accessible transport solution.
The “Promo +” campaign offers promotional trips in tourist class on the Alfa Pendular service and 2nd class on the Intercidades service. For example, the Porto – Faro route is highlighted, with tickets costing €11 in the Alfa Pendular tourist class or €10 on the Intercidades trains.
The promotional tickets can be purchased until November 30, allowing passengers to enjoy affordable travel nationwide.
Algarve railway line will be completed next year
A tender was approved by the Government in July 2021 and launched the following December for CP – Comboios de Portugal to acquire 117 electric railcars worth 819 million euros, which, according to the then Minister of Infrastructure, Pedro Nuno Santos, is the operator’s “biggest purchase ever”.
João Galamba guaranteed that the electrification work on the Algarve railway line, which is being developed by Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP) in two sections – Faro-Vila Real de Santo António (56 kilometres) and Tunes-Lagos (45 kilometres) –, will be completed next year.
“We hope to complete this electrification during 2024 and will try to make it happen as soon as possible. I don’t want to commit to a date, but [it will] definitely be in 2024,” he stated.
The work will allow the travel time of regional services to be reduced by 25 minutes between Lagos and Vila Real de Santo António.
