A Dutch couple fended off a robbery attempt by three hooded men at their house in the Cruzes area of Barão de S.Miguel on February 8 last week.
According to Correio da Manhã newspaper, it was while the husband was fighting with the intruders that the wife was able to switch on their house alarm, which frightened the men who quickly left the scene.
The crime is being investigated by police.
