Police are investigating the possibility of a murder-suicide after a man and a woman were found dead inside their home in Vale Mós, São Bartolomeu de Messines (Silves) on Tuesday.
Details are still scarce. All that is known so far is that authorities found the couple with severe injuries believed to have been caused by a firearm, according to Correio da Manhã tabloid.
Firefighters and INEM emergency services were called to the scene but their death was declared on the spot.
CM adds that the man and woman are believed to be in their 60’s.
GNR were the first police force to arrive at the scene and have alerted PJ police – which is leading the investigation – that they believe this was a case of murder-suicide (when someone kills one or more people before killing themselves).
The bodies were taken by the volunteer firefighters of Messines to Portimão’s legal medicine office to undergo an autopsy.
