Countryside fair showcases rural Algarve in Odeleite

A fair focusing on the lifestyle, traditions and natural landscape of rural Odeleite is taking place in the small village of Furnazinhas on Sunday, May 12.

One of the highlights of the event will be a walk through the countryside at 9am which will explore “stone streets, houses made out of schist stone, old copper mines and stunning landscapes over the Odeleite dam”. There will be four routes to choose from (3km, 5km, 8km and 11km).

Anyone can sign up by contacting the Odeleite parish council. Cost is €12 and includes insurance, supplies, breakfast and lunch.

The festivities continue in the afternoon when stalls will open in the village centre selling all kinds of regional and local delicacies. Visitors will also be able to enjoy several activities such as donkey rides and learning how to make bread. Musical entertainment is also on the agenda.

The ‘Feira do Campo’ is organised by the Odeleite parish council, Castro Marim council, Associação Social da Freguesia de Odeleite, Clube de Caçadores das Furnazinhas and local citizens.
