Portugal has joined a European network that will implement a new certificate that guarantees that olive grove management includes biodiversity conservation, thanks to a project by the University of Évora (UÉ), it was announced today. Called “Olivares Vivos +” (Living Olive Groves +), the project is led in Portugal by José Manuel Herrera, from the Biodiversity and Climate Change Research Group at the Mediterranean Institute for Agriculture, Environment and Development (MED) of UÉ.
