Could Olhanense make the play-offs?

There may be more twists and turns as SC Olhanense’s season draws to a close. Supporters had given up on securing a play-off place in the Campeonato de Portugal but the outcome of a Disciplinary Enquiry by the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF), following the abandonment of their game against Casa Pia, might possibly give them a slight opportunity of sneaking into second place.

Alternatively, the FPF may make a points deduction for both teams due to the seriousness of the events at the José Arcanjo Stadium on April 14.

Whatever the outcome, Olhanense’s 5-0 victory at relegated Ferreiras FC (Albufeira) last Saturday keeps the pressure on the top teams. Three goals in the first 10 minutes – Rodriguez (5’), Stevy Okitokandjo (7’) and Adewale Sapara (10’) – virtually killed off the game. Adewale added a fourth goal eight minutes before the interval.

Olhanense took their foot off the gas in the second-half and it was left to Hassan to add number five from the penalty spot in the final minute.
On Sunday, Olhanense travel to bottom club Redondense who are yet to win this season having drawn just two of their 31 games and, in the process, conceded 93 goals.
