Costly fuel

Diesel is set to hit 1.30 euros per litre by the end of this week and 1.50 euros by the end of the year.

The price of diesel is expected to rise 27 per cent by the end of the year but other fuels are also expected to rise, as a result of the international petrol crisis, which has seen the price of a barrel of oil sharply rise over the last year or so.

However, the government is also being blamed for the price hikes of diesel and other fuels across Portugal. Many believe the tax imposed by the government is too high and that it has done little to combat rising costs for consumers.
