International and national players from all over Portugal came to the Algarve to join the recent ‘Algarvida’ tennis tournament at Carvoeiro Clube de Ténis. The third of four Sovereign Series tournaments, sponsored by Algarvida real estate, took place at Carvoeiro Clube de Ténis. Ronald Henneberke, director and organiser of the tournament, commented on the very high standard of international players, which created a truly cosmopolitan atmosphere. For example the men’s 45+ final was played between a Brazilian and a Portuguese player, and the doubles final was played between an English, French, Brazilian and Portuguese player. Final results:
Men’s singles: Sérgio Aragão beat Miguel B. Monteiro with 6:1, 6:4.
Men’s doubles: Sérgio Aragão / Gerard Quenardel beat Pedro Llorca / Neil Bock with 6:3, 7:5
