A funeral cortege in Mirando-do-Corvo descended into chaos when the brakes failed on the lead vehicle. “There were people scattered everywhere. It looked like a terrorist attack”, said one eye witness. Among the injured was the priest leading the ceremony and a candidate for the upcoming elections. Fortunately, no one was badly hurt, and the funeral went ahead with those left standing, reports Correio da Manhã.
The driver of car that went out of control was treated in hospital for shock, while the injuries to the political candidate saw temporary suspension of the PS party’s campaign schedule, said the paper.
