SÃO BRÁS de Alportel is organising a project to collect and recycle used corks from bottles in order to raise awareness about the cork industry and products which can result from recycling.
Restaurants and other commercial spaces in São Brás can collect used corks as well as apply to the Câmara for a rolhão, a receptacle designed for collection.
Products which will be made with the recycled material include place mats, insulation material and cork floor tiles.
