MEMBERS OF the Associação dos Amigos da Cortelha (ACC), a group dedicated to preserving local traditions while promoting attractions in the small village of Cortelha, in the Salir parish council, north of Faro, have created a novel nativity scene made entirely from local cork.
Various animals including a camel and a donkey and other symbols of the nativity are displayed through the village of Salir and were all made by local people.
The centre piece of the exhibits is the principal nativity scene including cork figures representing Mary, Joseph and Jesus. The creative pieces are on view in Salir until January 6.
