Cool Manouche & Betty M bring gypsy jazz to Silves theatre

By popular request and following a sell-out concert in March, Cool Manouche & Betty M return on Saturday, November 2 to the Teatro Mascarenhas Gregório in Silves for another performance of swinging jazz in the hot club style.

This benefit concert, organised by the Silves Rotary Club in association with Blevins Franks International, aims to raise funds for the Casa do Povo in Messines, with proceeds going towards the installation of a sensory room for children and adults who have communication and mobility difficulties.

Playing since 2016 at sold-out concerts all over the Algarve, this gypsy jazz trio features guitarists Ray Bartlett and Luís Fialho and renowned bass player Rick Steffens. Joined by the vibrant Betty M with her violin and amazing vocals, classics such as “Dark Eyes”, “Minor Swing”, “All of Me”, “Nuage” and “Clair de Lune” are a few of the songs which will enthral the audience and have them tapping their feet in time to the music.

Held in the beautifully restored theatre, the atmosphere and music for the evening will take you back in time to the charm of 1930s Paris with the music of Django Reinhardt, Stochelo Rosenberg and Tchavolo Schmitt.

You can hear some of the music on the band’s ‘Cool Manouche’ Facebook page.

Doors open from 7pm for a welcoming drink and snacks. The concert starts at 8pm and there is a special prize draw of two bottles of wine, donated by Blevins Franks.
