Five tonnes of used cooking oil (UCO) was collected in Lagos in 2011.
The project to collect the oil started in 2009 and almost 10 tonnes has been collected since then.
According to ReciClimpa, the company responsible for collecting the UCO, February last year saw the highest monthly amount collected, some 680 kilogrammes.
Lagos Câmara implemented the scheme with the aim of raising environmental standards in the council and hopes to increase the quantities collected this year.
