Portugal is to help Cape Verde in the process of extending its continental platform. The Portuguese-speaking archipelago has until the end of the year to present its paperwork to the UN. As Portugal is in an identical process, agricultural minister Assunção Cristas revealed this week – currently extending the nation’s continental platform from 200 to 350 nautical miles – it can provide Cape Verde with legal support and know-how.
