Contemporary dance festival

Internationally renowned performers will be making an appearance in Portimão for the seventh annual contemporary dance competition.

The event will be held from April 12 until April 29 and will present five contemporary dance shows following the theme of Dança na Primavera, dance in the spring.

A highlight of the festival will be performances by the National Ballet Company.  On April 27 the company will perform three pieces including Canata, a piece exploring the relationship between men and women, and Front Line, created by Henri Oguike.

Bringing the festival to a close, the Madrid Ballet Company will take to the stage on April 29.

The ballet company will be performing a Mendelssohn piece inspired by Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

All the events will be held at the Auditório Municipal de Portimão and begin at 9.30pm. Tickets cost five euros and are available to buy from the auditorium between 10am and 8pm.  A ticket allowing entry to all the shows can be purchased for 20 euros.
