Consumer association accuses telecoms of ‘hiding’ price rises

DECO, Portugal’s association for consumer defence, has accused telecom operators of a lack of transparency in communicating price rises to customers, as they continue to fail to inform on the amount of looming price rises. The country’s three main operators (NOS, MEO and Vodafone) have admitted “either on their website, by e-mail, SMS or invoice” that prices will be increasing in February, “but none of them actually communicated the amount of the increase, or the future price to be paid by each customer,” says DECO, which is demanding that national communications authority ANACOM “finally define procedures for price change communications, regardless of whether or not they are provided for in the contract”.
