Consulate reaches out to British community

A series of talks have been organised for March 15 by the British Consulate in Lisbon and partners for members of the British community.

They will be taking place in Leiria at the Teatro Miguel Franco between 6pm and 8pm and are aimed at raising awareness of the range of services available in Portugal.

The event has been organised jointly by the British Consulate in Lisbon, the UK Department for Works and Pensions (DWP), Lisbon-based Anglo-Portuguese law office Neville de Rougemont and financial consultants

Imperius Asset Management.

The focus will be on a range of issues, including addressing what the Consulate can and cannot do for British nationals, pensions and benefits, wills and taxation issues.

Darryl England from the DWP, who will be discussing what help is available to British nationals from the department, said: “I am looking forward to meeting residents in central Portugal and I hope that they will find the talks both useful and informative.”

Consul Simona Demuro added that she is delighted by this unique opportunity to join forces with the DWP and businesses and said that she hoped that the British residents would take advantage of this opportunity.

There are 80 free places available and those interested in attending need to confirm their presence via email by March 1 to Lisbon.consulate@fco.gov.uk

Meanwhile, there are plans to hold similar talks in the coming weeks in the Algarve. The Algarve Resident will be publishing full details of upcoming events when they become available.
