British Consular staff in Portimão gave British nationals living in and visiting the Algarve “a huge amount of support” last year, according to Acting Consul Angela Morado.
In 2009, the region’s British Consulate issued 511 emergency passports, dealt with 154 cases involving the death of British nationals, 38 hospitalisations, three mental health cases, two missing persons, four cases involving the custody of children and 11 welfare cases.
To find out what the British Consulate can and cannot do for its citizens, Angela Morado invites residents to visit their offices at Edifício A Fábrica, Avenida Guanaré in Portimão or call 282 490 750.
