WORK TO build the Amendoeira Golf Resort in Herdade da Lameira, Alcantarilha (Silves), will begin in two months time if the Oceânico Group has its way. Despite still being in the licensing stage and awaiting the final result of the environmental impact study required for the golf courses, the Ocêanico Group has revealed that around 30 per cent of the properties due to be built are already reserved, mainly by British and Irish clients.
It has been reported that no less than 23 different companies have submitted tenders for the work to construct the necessary infrastructures, while three have put forward proposals to construct the two golf courses planned for the resort.
Proposals are now being studied and, within one month, the successful bids will be revealed. Apparently, the objective is to inaugurate the resort when the first golf course is complete and Oceânico’s construction director, Jorge Grave, believes this should be in October 2007. By the same date, it is hoped that a good part of the properties and the clubhouse will be ready.
As well as two championship golf courses, the resort is to have substantial areas for real estate and holiday accommodation, totalling 120,000sqm and representing almost 1,800 beds. There will be five urbanisations with one, two and three bedroom apartments, a five star hotel with 300 rooms, spa, conference centre and riding school.
In total, the project will occupy an area of 270 hectares, which could be extended if the group acquire more land in the surrounding area of Herdade da Lameira.
