Congratulations all round

STUDENTS  AT the International School of the Algarve have posted examination results that have out-performed UK averages.

The latest set of results, released in August, are among the best ever for the Porches school and continue the trend of consistently bettering the average performance in the UK.

At Advanced Level the pass rate was 100 per cent, compared with 96.2 per cent in the UK.

All Year 13 students won places at their chosen universities, prompting the school to say how delighted it was and how staff are looking forward to hearing of pupils’ future achievements.

At GCSE level the overall pass rate was 99.6 per cent and students achieved a 77.3 per cent of passes at grades A* to C.

The UK average was 62.4 per cent.

Furthermore, the overall percentage of A grades was also significantly higher here than in the UK (25.2 per cent as compared to 19.1 per cent).

Headmaster John Butterworth said: “The 2006 examination results are a credit to the Year 11 and 13 students and their teachers. They show just how much hard work has been done by all and are a richly deserved achievement and should reinforce the belief of our parents that they have placed their children in what we believe is the best school in the Algarve.”
