’WICKED’ SECRETS of traditional Algarve confectionary are about to be unveiled in the sanctified atmosphere of Lagoa’s Convento de S. João. From July 29-31, the cloister of the early 18th century monastery will host, for the third year running, Doce Conventual (Monastic Confiture), a celebration of sweetmeats, during which visitors will be able to experience enlightenment, fulfilment and even ecstasy as they taste a range of exquisite regional deserts and sweets from years gone by. The event which takes place each evening from 6pm to 1am features a full musical programme including “As Moças Nagradas”, “Trio Angola” and an evening of Fado.
