Condemned to 25 years for child’s murder, all four defendants ‘plan to appeal’

In the words of Correio da Manhã today, “they have nothing to lose”: it appears all four people sent to jail for 25 years for the appalling murder of a three-year-old child are planning to appeal. So far only the appeal, by the child’s mother, has been officially lodged. The four were condemned to the maximum sentence available under Portuguese Law less than two weeks ago.
