Opposition party PSD has questioned the government over the “computer system errors” that have prevented Vila do Bispo’s health centre from scheduling any new medical appointments since December 2.
“It’s an incomprehensible situation that is extremely damaging to the population,” said social democrat MPs Cristóvão Norte, Rui Cristina and Ofélia Ramos in a statement to the press.
The reported computer system error has left doctors without access to patients’ medical records, which “deprives them of the adequate conditions” to do their job.
“It is incomprehensible that the issue has been dragging for such a long time, even after commitments were made to resolve the problem,” the MPs say.
They add that a similar issue had occurred in 2019.
Lastly, the MPs also state that the failure of the computer system “creates doubts about whether the Covid-19 vaccination programme will be affected in the municipality”.
